Foot Health Tips

Submission by: Stephen Hartman, B.Sc. Podiatric Medicine

1. Do not use salicylic acid on cracked heels. Heal the cracks first, then present calluses with a salicylic-infused cream.
2. Be sure to soak your feet no longer than 10-12 minutes otherwise it will dry out the skin on your feet.
3. Wearing a three inch heel puts seven times more stress on the ball of the foot than a one inch heel- increasing callus development. It’s important to switch shoes often to avoid callus formation.
